Inevitability(28/12/2010)

In the past few days, there has been a stir in public opinion in Da Nang because of published information about the agreement of City People’ Committee for Thien Thanh Group Ltd. Co.’s investment in high-rise luxury trade-service Complex project at the front area of Hung Vuong – Ngo Gia Tu – Le Duan – Trieu Nu Vuong Streets (including Chi Lang stadium) approximately 6 hectares (Chi Lang Complex). Many people asked why this residential area forming for a long time, a citizen’s stable life and a large project like Chi Lang stadium will be relieved and replanned. How will the project be, when will it be deployed?
 

The answers are for the involved department, but at first we need to realize that if it is true, this policy is judicious and indispensable because of some reasons:

Firstly, Da Nang nowadays is different from yesterday and more different from future. 10 years ago, Da Nang had only 700 thousands people and 900 thousands people up to 2010. It is predicted to have 1,5 or 2 millions people in the near future, some people even propose the number of 3-4 millions which matches the central urban of Central-Highlands’s major economic area.

With this population scale development, Da Nang city will not be like now, including suburban and city center.

To reach that range, we must be deeply aware of the face of central urban. It is thought that Chi Lang Complex is just a beginning of the acknowledgement of modern and big Da NangCity in the future. With a broad vision, Da Nang urban center’s significant works are not only Chi Lang Complex with such area scale but also expanded regions around Le Duan, Tran Phu, Ong Ich Khiem, Hung Vuong or more broadly. Therefore, Da Nang has both modern center and no cramped quarters of the poor and near poor of central districts such as Hai Chau, Thanh Khe.

Secondly, looking into the spatial development planning of Da Nang City, we can see that the space of a town under the pyramid down, meaning that administrative, banking, financial centers…the buildings being formed in the city center. This is a dialectical and suitable solution for Da NangCity at present and in the near future, since Da Nang is a young city, not the formation of the old quarters like Hanoi, Hue, Hoi An. Accordingly, the city center must be renovated and expanded to the development of this spatial development planning. Therefore, Chi Lang Complex is just a beginning of a new process of urban development in Da Nang.

However, the government and relevant agencies must drastically implement right now; once forming, the project must be implemented on schedule in order to prevent the investor from being hesitant, prolonged, which causes the loss of people’s belief such as a number of projects have been implemented in the city center. On the other hand, the city should have planned a long-term orientation for Da Nang city in the future to follow the formation of large projects that can limit the clearance afterwards.

From the policy of building high-rise luxury trading-services Complex at the front area of Hung Vuong – Ngo Gia Tu – Le Duan – Trieu Nu Vuong Streets, it is thought that the city should further strengthen the works of marketing and searching the investors for early large-scale and modern construction in Da Nang in. Because it is inevitable
